Breaking Free: Transitioning into a Father Church

In our journey as a church, we’ve been talking about transitioning into what God calls a “Father Church.” Over the past few weeks, the focus has shifted toward principles that help us step into what God has for us. One thing is clear: God doesn’t work without us, He works with us.

Just like He spoke to Gideon, calling him a “mighty man of valor” despite his fears and insecurities, God often calls us before we feel ready. Gideon had to partner with God, obey His instructions, and take action before deliverance came for Israel. The same is true for us today. God is ready to move, but He needs our response.
Dismantling Old Identities
Many of us are held back because we keep identifying with the past. Like blind Bartimaeus, who had to throw off his beggar’s garment before approaching Jesus, we too must cast aside the old identities and labels we’ve carried. Whether it’s fear, insecurity, envy, or failure, these things keep us tied to yesterday when God is calling us into our future.
The first step is to name what you’re battling. Is it fear of lack? Fear of failure? Envy? Until you identify it, you can’t confront it. As the message reminded us, “You want victory, but you practice defeat.” Every day, through our thoughts and habits, we either reinforce old patterns or create new ones that align with God’s promises.
The Power of Daily Practice
Victory doesn’t come by chance, it comes by what we do daily. Joshua 1:8 says we must meditate on God’s Word day and night so we can live it out and see success. Too often, we want God to move, but we aren’t willing to take consistent steps of faith.
Whether it’s speaking life over your finances, renewing your mind with Scripture, or changing how you respond in relationships, your habits determine your outcomes. Transformation begins when you change what you focus on every single day.
Overcoming the Grasshopper Mentality
Numbers 13:33 describes how the Israelites saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to the giants in the land. Because they viewed themselves as small and defeated, that’s exactly how others saw them too.
Your mindset shapes your reality. If you carry fear, rejection, or insecurity, it colors how you see every opportunity and challenge. The message challenged us to break free from this small mindset and see ourselves the way God sees us victorious, equipped, and called for greater things.
Advancing Forward
Maybe you feel like you keep circling the same struggles, just like Israel journeyed around the Red Sea for years. But the prophetic word declared: We are not going to keep cycling through the same battles. We are going to advance.
With the Holy Spirit’s help, and by changing our daily habits, renewing our minds, and taking action, we will step into the victory God has promised.
