Session 6 of Transition into a Father Church reminds us that obedience is the key to hearing and walking with God. Too often, we want the privilege of hearing God without the commitment of doing what He says. But Scripture is clear: if you want to hear Him consistently, you must be ready to obey. The Lord doesn’t demand perfection, but He does require a heart that responds when He speaks.

Arise and Shine

Too often, we want God to speak but reserve the right to ignore what He says. Yet Scripture calls us to a different posture:

“To obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22).

God doesn’t expect perfection but obedience. A willingness to move when He speaks.

Exiting the Old, Entering the New

Transition isn’t just about leaving hardship, it’s about entering promise. Hebrews 11:24–26 says of Moses:

“By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, for he looked to the reward.”

Moses left Egypt because he saw something greater ahead. Likewise, we must stop defining ourselves by past failures or struggles and start embracing the identity God has declared over us.

Even if you don’t fully see it yet, faith calls you to agree with God: “You are a fathering people”. A people called to lead, guide, and influence.

Arising in the Midst of ‘Egypt’

Sundays' message draws on the story of Joseph, who rose to prominence in Egypt despite betrayal and hardship.

“See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck (Genesis 41:41–42).

Joseph didn’t wait for perfect circumstances before using his God-given gifts. He interpreted dreams in prison before interpreting Pharaoh’s dream in the palace. The principle is simple: use what you have, where you are, and God will elevate you.

As Micah 4:1–2 declares:

“In the latter days, the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains… and people shall flow to it.”

The Church is called to be a people of elevation, rising in influence, wisdom, and spiritual authority in every sphere of life.

Stop Comparing, Start Building

Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 10:12:

“But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

Comparison kills progress. Your gifts, calling, and grace are unique expressions of Christ. Oneness in the Body of Christ doesn’t mean uniformity. It means diverse gifts working together in one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:15–16).

Instead of downplaying what God has given you because it looks different from someone else’s, develop it daily. As Psalm 1 reminds us, meditating on God’s Word day and night produces a well-watered, fruitful life.

Where Are You Going?

Too many of us are content with just surviving. Working jobs, paying bills, waiting for heaven without building toward the future God has revealed.

But Scripture shows us God always calls His people out of something and into something:

“Get out of your country… to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great” (Genesis 12:1–2).

Vision gives you strength to leave the past behind and courage to pursue the future.

Arise and Shine

Isaiah 60:1 declares:

“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”

This is the call for the Church today: to arise in obedience, embrace our God-given identity, develop our gifts, and lead in every sphere of life.

Family, let’s not just exit the old season. Let’s enter the new one with faith, vision, and a determination to build.

Let’s arise and become the fathering people God has called us to be.
