The Father Church: Embracing Our Spiritual Jurisdiction

Pastor JP Huish preaching

There are moments in our spiritual journey when God calls us to see differently — to gain revelation, not information. A morning ordained not for activity, but for sight  - sight into what God has already done, what He has declared, and what remains invisible until we see it through the Spirit.

“If you don’t see it, you cannot step into it. If you don’t accept it, you cannot be mantled for it.”

The central premise was this: God has already positioned the house as a Father Church - not just in title, but in function, responsibility, and reach. This is more than a prophetic label, it is a spiritual jurisdiction granted to us. However, we have been trying to operate in that role without fully accepting or seeing it, and that blindness has led to unnecessary burdens and spiritual exhaustion.

Seeing Through the Spirit

Drawing from Luke 24, we were reminded that the disciples could only recognize Jesus when He opened the Scriptures to them. Likewise, our eyes must be opened by the Word and Spirit - only then can we perceive the mantle God has placed upon us. The message emphasized that revelation precedes empowerment.

“Without sight, we work with weight. With sight, we work with grace.”

Moving from Internal to External

Referencing Hebrews 6, the call was to move beyond the elementary teachings - not to abandon them, but to shift focus. The work outside the walls is not optional, it is a new assignment. Fathering is no longer confined to the spiritual needs inside the church. It now includes the burdens of our community, our schools, businesses, and the nation itself.

Just like Moses who felt overwhelmed until the Spirit was shared with others (Numbers 11), or Joseph who changed garments before standing before Pharaoh (Genesis 41), we too must change our spiritual clothing. That change symbolizes a shift in identity - no longer prisoners, pastors, or people bound by internal work, but rulers, fathers, and regional stewards.

A Personal Parallel

Pastor JP Huish shared a personal journey of recognizing a shift in his calling - moving from local fathering to a broader apostolic role. What began as an unfamiliar pull while attending external meetings became a clear directive.

This experience mirrors what God is doing corporately with us. The same clarity, clothing, and empowerment are waiting for the church, but only if we perceive and take hold of the position.

Spiritual Alignment Unlocks Authority

Much like Elisha receiving Elijah’s mantle, sight is the prerequisite for spiritual inheritance. Elijah said, “If you see me when I’m taken, it will be so for you.” Without perception, there can be no possession. The prophetic word over the church - that we are a Father Church over a region - has remained unactivated in many hearts simply because it hasn't been seen.

“Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘See, I have set you over all Egypt.’ Perceive your position, and authority will follow.

Implications for Every Member

This isn't just for leadership. Every believer must start functioning as a spiritual parent in their own sphere:

  • Students: Start seeing yourself as a voice and influencer in your school.

  • Businesspeople: Carry a fathering presence in your workplace - bring order, peace, and leadership.

  • Educators, artists, administrators, entrepreneurs - wherever you are, shift from personal survival to regional responsibility.

You’re not just part of a church family, you are part of a fathering house. That means your prayers must include your community, not just your household. Your dreams should begin to include schools, businesses, streets, and governance.

Accept the Name Before You See the Nations

Just as Abraham became “Father of Nations” long before the nations arrived, the same is true for us. God changes the name before the manifestation.

“You may have never fathered before. That doesn’t mean you aren’t a father.”

It's time to see. It's time to shift. The favor, authority, and solutions we seek are tied to a position already granted in the Spirit. Now we must align with it. Speak it. Pray from it. Lead through it.

We are The Father Church. We are called. We are mantled. We are sent. If we see it and say yes, we will walk in the grace that has long awaited our agreement.
