Crowned With Glory and Honour

“What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honour, and set him over the works of Your hands.”
One of the greatest revelations we can receive as sons of God is an understanding of the position we have been given in Christ. We have not merely been forgiven, rescued or brought out of darkness. In Christ, we have been restored, established and crowned with glory and honour.

This crown is not simply a decorative object placed upon our heads. A crown represents authority, kingship, responsibility and rulership. It identifies someone who has been appointed to govern and trusted with a particular assignment.
When Scripture declares that humanity has been crowned with glory and honour, it reveals that the Father has surrounded His sons with His excellence and placed them in a position of dignity and authority.
Surrounded by the Father’s Excellence
Glory speaks of splendour, majesty, strength, excellence, beauty, reputation and vitality. Honour speaks of dignity, respect, magnificence and value.
Therefore, to be crowned with glory and honour means that God has surrounded us with His excellence and clothed us with His nature.
This does not mean that we are called to draw attention to ourselves. The glory we have received is not intended to build our own names, ministries or kingdoms. It has been given so that the Father may be revealed through us.
The purpose of the crown is representation.
Wherever sons of God go, the nature of the Father should become visible. His grace, mercy, patience, wisdom, authority and love should flow through their lives.
Glory was never meant to be something we merely possess. It was meant to flow through us.
Created to Reveal the Father
Psalm 8 presents David looking at the greatness of God and asking:
“What is man that You are mindful of him?”
David recognized the splendour of creation. He looked at the heavens, the earth and the works of God’s hands, and he marveled that humanity had been chosen to carry God’s image.
Everything God created reveals something about Him. The beauty of a flower, the majesty of the heavens and the order of creation all testify of His wisdom and excellence.
However, humanity was created as the highest expression of His image.
We were created to carry His nature and reveal His glory.
This is why our identity as sons is so important. Our position cannot be separated from our relationship with the Father. We cannot properly represent someone we do not know.
Jesus demonstrated this perfectly. He lived with a clear awareness of His Father and His assignment. He declared that His food was to do the will of the Father. Everything He said and did flowed from His relationship with the Father.
The miracles, healing, wisdom and authority seen in the life of Jesus were expressions of the Father working through the Son.
In the same way, the Father desires to make Himself visible through us.
A Chosen and Royal People
First 1 Peter 2:9 declares:
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
This is our restored identity in Christ.
We are chosen. We have been handpicked by the Father and brought into a royal position. We are not merely people who escaped darkness, we are sons who have been brought into the Father’s marvelous light.
Royalty speaks of lineage. As sons of God, we belong to the household of the King. We have been given authority, but that authority must always be exercised in submission to the Father.
Our words should carry life. Our prayers should carry faith. Our presence should bring comfort, hope, healing and direction.
The light of the Father should shine through us so clearly that people who remain in darkness begin to see another way.
Yet this glory must never become an opportunity for self-promotion. Jesus never used the works of the Father to glorify Himself. When people were healed, delivered or restored, He directed the glory back to God.
True sonship does not compete for attention. It reveals the Father.
Honour Protects the Heart
Walking in glory and honour also requires us to understand submission, correction and spiritual authority.
One of the greatest dangers in our journey as sons is offence. Offence can cause us to see spiritual fathers, leaders and fellow believers only according to the flesh. When this happens, we struggle to receive the grace God desires to release through relationships.
Honour does not mean placing people on a pedestal or ignoring wrongdoing. Honour means recognizing the grace, assignment and authority God has placed upon another person.
Correction may be uncomfortable, but it can also protect, mature and reposition us.
When offence enters the heart, we must deal with it quickly. Holding onto offence may cause us to dishonour others and prevent us from receiving what the Father wants to teach us.
Sonship requires humility. Certain attitudes, habits and areas of stubbornness must be cut away. Pruning is not rejection. It is part of the Father’s process of bringing us into maturity.
When we are instructed to serve, we serve. When we are expected to be responsible, we become responsible. When correction comes, we receive it with a heart that desires to grow.
Honour is part of our journey into spiritual stature.
The Father Restores His Sons
The story of the prodigal son gives us a beautiful picture of the Father’s love.
The son left his father’s house, wasted his inheritance and made destructive decisions. When he eventually returned, he believed he was no longer worthy to be called a son.
He expected to return as a servant.
However, the father ran towards him, embraced him and restored him. He ordered his servants to bring out the best robe, place a ring on his hand and prepare a celebration.
The robe was not merely clothing. It represented dignity, position and honour. The ring represented authority. The father was declaring that despite the son’s failures, his identity as a son had not been erased.
The father did not welcome him back with condemnation. He covered him with love and restored him to his rightful position.
This reveals the heart of our heavenly Father.
We may make mistakes in our journey, but we must know how to return. Shame may tell us that we are no longer worthy, but the Father continues to call us His sons.
In His presence, guilt and shame lose their power. The Father clothes us again with His nature and reminds us of the position we have received in Him.
Jesus: The Perfect Expression of Sonship
Jesus is the perfect expression of glory and honour.
Even as a young boy, He understood His identity and purpose. When His parents found Him in the temple, He declared that He had to be about His Father’s business.
Yet after making this declaration, He returned home and submitted Himself to His earthly parents. Scripture says that He grew in wisdom, stature and favour with God and man.
Jesus understood His divine identity, but His identity did not make Him rebellious or independent. It produced submission.
For many years, He remained under authority, growing and being prepared for His assignment. When the time came for Him to be revealed publicly, the Father declared:
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Before Jesus performed public miracles, the Father affirmed His sonship.
In the same way, our value does not begin with what we do. It begins with who we are in the Father. Ministry, service and authority must flow from identity rather than becoming attempts to earn identity.
Glory Is the Revelation of God’s Nature
When Moses asked God to show him His glory, God revealed His nature.
The glory of God was not merely a physical light or supernatural display. God proclaimed that He was merciful, gracious, patient and abundant in goodness and truth.
This shows us what it means to carry His glory.
If we have been crowned with His glory, mercy should flow through us. Grace should flow through us. Patience, love and compassion should be visible in our relationships.
The glory of the Father is the manifestation of who He is.
We have been highly esteemed and trusted to carry His nature. The Father sees us as capable of representing Him, even when we struggle to see that potential in ourselves.
We must stop living beneath the identity we have received.
Stand in Your Position
We have been called for such a time as this.
Wherever we go: into our homes, workplaces, businesses, churches and communities. The nature of the Father should flow through us.
We have been crowned with glory and honour.
We are surrounded by His excellence.
We are covered by His favour.
We are clothed with His identity.
We are established in His authority.
We are not called to remain controlled by our failures, shame or past mistakes. Like the prodigal son, we are invited to return to the Father and receive His covering.
The Father is calling His sons to maturity. He is calling us to stand in our position, walk in honour and reveal His nature to the world.
Let His wisdom flow through you.
Let His grace flow through you.
Let His healing flow through you.
Let His love flow through you.
You have been chosen, restored and commissioned to make the Father visible.
You have been crowned with glory and honour.
